SPF – THE POWER PLAYER IN YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE!

Heading out? Choosing to stay indoors? SPF is a must!

What is UV Radiation?
The most common form of Ultraviolet (UV) Radiation is sunlight. The sun produces UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin, breaking down collagen and elastin. UVB tends to damage the skin’s top layers.

Sun damage

Effects of UVB Rays

Sunburn

Damage DNA in skin cells

Skin cancers

Windows Block Only UVB Rays
The glass typically used in car, home and office windows is designed to block most UVB rays and not UVA rays which are responsible for premature ageing. So, if you drive frequently or you are sitting by a window or in a room with lots of sunlight, you may want to slather on sunscreen for ample skin protection.

Tip

Tint your car or house/office windows to reduce sunlight exposure.

Blue Lights Everywhere!
Blue light or also known as high-energy visible (HEV) light is the light your phone, tablet and computer screens emit. It has been shown to penetrate into the skin and cause premature photoageing, hyperpigmentation, age spots and melasma.

Tip

Re-apply sunscreen once every few hours for ample protection.
